What kind of trees do we discover there? Which animals are lurking in the woods? We will make fishing rods, go fishing and catch our imaginary dinner of pan fried trout. Can you discover other species of fish below the waves? In the evening we will sit around our imaginary camp fire and look at the moon and the stars. Can you find the North Star?

Summer Camp: July 31-August 4, 2017 : Stone Soup

$350.00

Theme: " Stone Soup" ( Healthy Nutrition and The Food Pyramid)

This Camp is conducted in Mandarin.

Some clever travelers are coming to the Dalton Village, and they are carrying an empty cooking pot. Based on the 1720's Folktale, you are the villagers who watch as the travelers fill the pot with water and drop a stone in it. You become curious when the pot is put on the fire and you ask what they are doing. The travelers answer that they are making "stone soup", which tastes wonderful, although it still needs something to improve the taste. You donate a few potatoes to help them out. Another villager (your friend) gives them a few carrots. As the day goes on, each of your curious friends add an ingredient to the pot on the fire. Finally, you watch as the stone is removed from the pot and you are amazed that a delicious pot of soup has been created! Although the clever travelers have tricked you, they have also introduced you to healthy vegetables. In this Camp you will be introduced to all the vegetables that make a delicious, healthy stone soup. You will learn about the food pyramid which is the foundation to healthy eating. We will hold, cut and eat unusual fruits such as pummelo, kiwano melon and dragon fruit.

This is a nut free/ peanut free Camp.

Camp runs 9am-3pm. Additional care is available 8am-9am and 3pm-6pm for no additional cost.
